@.@"

I have attended this class for almost six weeks. During this period, I have improved my listening, speaking, reading and writing skill. Every monday, we have to read an article in the class. Some aritcle is really hard to understand, and sometimes I can not fully get all ideas from it. However, it improve my reading skill when I read those long articles. I remember Antonnia said we can scan the article from reading the conclusion at first, getting the thesis in the introduction afterwards, and finally going through the bodies. I have tried this methods and it really helps me. Also, we have to do reading journal every tuesday, and I feel tired doing it. Haha! I know it can improve my English but I just really do it.

SuperSize Me!

I watched a TV documentary which is called SuperSize Me. In this documentary, Spurlock does an experiment on eating McDonald for thirty days. Before his weight was 185.5LB, was health and slim. After eating McDonald with supersize for one month, his gain 24.5LB, and his BMI raised from 23.2 to 27. On this 30 days, Spurlock fully eats three McDonald's meals a day, eats a McDonald's salad every tenth meal, and only walks 4,000 steps per day.

Obviously, this documentary is against of fast food. At the begining of the show, the director already foucus on the relationship between fast food and obesity. And also, the director tells us many information; for example, the numbers, the statistic and the test on children. I choose this show because it is related to my final paper which is about eating disorder. It gives many idea and information for it. I agree with what the director thinks. I think the show exposes the true results of eating fast food, even though the fast food companies deny it.

*The evaluation of the lecture "Culture Shock"~

In the lecture, the professor first explains what is culture shock. Then, she states that there are 6 symptoms about people who have culture. Afterwards, she divides the culture shock into 4 stages. Howver, she gives some methods about how to cope the culture shock, and she says many positive ways with culture shock.

I am so interested about 4 stages of culture because I try to find out which stage I am in now. Finally, I know I am in the second stage. Actually, I tried to be in the third stage but I was tired to do it, so I went back to the second stage. Moreover, I feel surprise to heard about there are positive sides with culture shock because I did not know that before even though I live in other culture now. However, the professor points out the positive and negative sides of it and I completely agree what she says.

My reflection!

In my class, I have one reading journal and listening log to do once a every. I hate to do reading journal because it is difficult. I still can not catch the way to do the reading log well. Maybe I am weak at critical thinking, so I spend long time on critique. And also, I have to find the reading which is related to my final project. I start to feel stress in this class because everyone's English is good except mine.

Actually, we do not have too much homework in this class. It is very good to me because I am lazy. Moreover, I like my classmates and they are so funny. Especially I know some Korean classmates and they are so nice to me. When I talk to them, I have to speak in English so I can improve my English.

Critique~

In this movie, the director wanted to tell us the truth which is about how wal-mart treats their workers. He interviewed with some workers and managers. He seemed to showed the balance of both side; however, he always gave many information or statistics which supported the employees' sides. Therefore, the director had bias on it. He wanted to expose how wal-mart deal with their emplyees' welfare and salaries unfairly. Even though the managers said they already did care on their works, the truth is not really like that because the statistics showed the fact on the movie.

Before I saw this documentary, I did not see these problems about wal-mart. It is really good movie because it reflects the workers' bad situation. Because wal-mart is a big company and it has power on the market, people always forget the workers' problems.

*Landy & Yueli !!!

When I first came to Yueli, I lost my way, and there was too big and strange for me. I could not find my classroom. I asked the people who walked in yuel; however, they did not really know where is my classroom Fortunately, I saw a chinese girl who also study in Yueli. She was so nice to answer my question. I still can remeber her looking because it was so impress to me. After I met my teacher, I start to sit down and talk to my classmates who sit beside me. I found that it was a nice class and all students and teacher are so kind.
And now, I was in Lv5a. I knew it was a tough section and was not easy to pass. I could not promise I would go up to Lv6, but I believed I can do my best in this class. Actually, my teacher did not give too much homework for me. I will try to use the rest of time to do other exercise to improve my English.
